Volunteer with TTCD
Volunteers play an essential role in supporting TTCD’s mission. From planting and harvesting at the Tyonek Farm and Garden to participating in community stream cleanups and educational workshops, community members are welcome to contribute their time and passion.
Ways to Participate
- Tyonek Farm & Garden Harvest: Assist with weeding, harvesting, and packaging produce for elders.
- Stream & Habitat Conservation: Join seasonal invasive weed pulls and stream monitoring days.
- Youth Workshop Mentorship: Help facilitate youth STEM science activities and TYCS events.
Volunteer FAQs
Do I need special conservation experience to volunteer?
No experience is required! TTCD staff provide all necessary field training, safety gear, and guidance for garden harvesting, stream monitoring, and event setup.
Where do volunteer workdays take place?
Most farm and garden volunteer days take place at the Tyonek Village Farm and solar high tunnels. Stream monitoring and fish passage cleanups take place along the Tyonek road system and Roberts Creek.
How do I travel to Tyonek for volunteer events?
Tyonek is off the road system and accessible via floatplane or commuter flights (approx. 25-minute flight from Anchorage across Cook Inlet).
